1. Function of the O-ring
The O-ring for the KEG closure stem plays a central role in ensuring that the keg system is tightly sealed. As a rule, two O-rings are installed on the inside of the keg body to ensure that the spiget slides smoothly when pressed down and at the same time ensures a secure seal. These O-rings prevent gases or liquids from escaping uncontrollably and ensure that the KEG system functions optimally.

Variant 1: O-ring for KEG closures type A (flat cone) and M (combination cone)

3. Design and function
The O-ring is usually made of a robust rubber material that ensures a perfect seal between the stopper and the keg body. When the spigot is pressed down, it slides along the inside of the keg body and is guided by the O-rings. The elastic properties of the O-ring create an optimal seal that prevents pressure or liquid from escaping.
4. Wear and maintenance
The O-ring is a wearing part that can wear out over time due to pressure, temperature, and frequent use. Regular maintenance is therefore essential to ensure the long-term functionality of the KEG system.

- Particularly suitable for standard models of kegs that use flat seals.

For KEG closures type S (basket keg) and D (cup keg)
- These O-rings are designed for basket keg and Köpikeg closures and also ensure reliable sealing and guidance of the spigot.
- These types are more commonly used in industrial or large brewery systems.

7. Application and installation
step 1: Carefully remove the old O-ring (if damaged or worn) from the inside of the keg body.
step 2: Select the appropriate O-ring (depending on the type of KEG closure) and check that it is the right size and fit.
step 3: Insert the new O-ring into the inner handle of the keg body and make sure it is seated correctly.
step 4: Lightly grease the O-ring (optional) with a suitable grease to improve sliding and extend service life.
step 5: After installation, check that the handle slides smoothly and that the seal is working correctly.
8. Cleaning and maintenance
regular inspection: Check the O-ring regularly for wear, cracks, or deformation that could impair the sealing effect.
cleaning: Clean the O-ring carefully with warm water and a mild detergent as needed. Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the material.
