1. Function of the check ball

The check ball is an essential component in the KEG closure mechanism. It serves as a valve seal and prevents the uncontrolled escape of liquid or gas from the KEG.

During tapping, the ball opens under pressure, allowing the beverage or CO2 to flow out of the KEG in a controlled manner. As soon as the tap head is removed or the pressure is reduced, the ball automatically closes the outlet again.

4. How it works

In idle state: The ball sits firmly in the valve and prevents liquid or gas from escaping.
During tapping: The ball is lifted by the tap head or CO2 pressure, allowing the beverage or gas to escape.
After tapping: The ball falls back into its original position and automatically closes the keg outlet.

6. Application & replacement

step 1: Remove the tap head from the KEG and check the valve.
step 2: If necessary, carefully remove the old check ball.
Step 3: Insert the new ball into the seat provided in the KEG holder.
step 4: Check the fit of the ball – it should move freely but seal securely.
step 5: Reattach the tap head and test that it is working properly.

7. Cleaning & maintenance

regular inspection: Check the ball for wear or deposits.
cleaning: Rinse with warm water and a mild detergent or special KEG cleaner.
replacement: The ball should be replaced if there is visible wear or leakage.
